Lake Maria

Here are some more 4th of July weekend pictures.

We had originally reserved the cabin for the first weekend in June, 

but then we had a conflict with Sam's Spotlight deal.

Instead of just cancelling I just pushed it out to July.

We only had one night but it was so great!

So relaxing.

So restful!

The cabins are absolutely adorable

and pretty darn comfortable.

I for sure want to reserve a weekend this

 fall so we can use the woodstove.

All the coziness!

It was suuuuuuper humid.

When we went to bed it was pretty much one of those nights where

you lay there stuck to your sheets, not really sleeping,

and wishing and praying for a breath of air to give you respite.

Finally about midnight a huge storm came.

It rained and rained and rained!

There was also much thunder and lightening. 

I wondered whether the ranger would come get us 

if the weather got too bad/

(See what I did there? Whether-weather Ha!)

Before it rained we did a lot of reading.

And had a bonfire to cook brats and hotdogs

and beans right in the can.

When we woke up in the morning it was 

still pouring cats and dogs.

Sorry for the mom selfie. I just want to be included.

We all had to go to the outhouse but it was 

over  the river and through the woods. 

Well, across the bridge and up the hill.

Farther than we wanted to go in that downpour.

We finally broke down and went out under the 

eaves back by the shelter for the wood.

Awkward. But pretty pioneer, right?

Isn't this awesome? A beaver chewed down this giant tree!
 The whole hillside looked like this.
And the sap from the tree makes it look like it was stained.

We had some meatsticks and string cheese and juice

and grapes for breakfast.

And probably some potato chips,

We played some Zeus on the Loose, Quiddler 

and King's corner.

Delightfull.

Then we packed, cleaned, and hiked out to the car.

Luckily it was only misting by then.

Most unflattering (and yet confy!) outfit ever.

We did a little drive-through explore of the park.

So beautiful!

There was a fungus among us.

We finished driving through and just enjoyed the scenery.

It was lovely and such a needed break fro the world.

I can't wait to go back!
